![]() Initially the staff were very attentive, unfortunately as it got busier the service level dropped to the point where errors were being made or requests were being forgotten. The afternoon tea was of a very good standard and the lounge where it was served was very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived at 1.00pm as we had booked afternoon tea. We stayed at Alexander House and Utopia Spa for 3 nights from Sunday to Wednesday. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future. I will be speaking to our bar manager to see how this occurred. I do apologise for the issues you experienced with regards to the service you received in our champagne bar during your time with us. I will be speaking with our spa management to ensure that we are monitoring our numbers correctly and that our spa is a relaxing environment for all. However it saddens me to hear that you found the spa to be overcrowded. I am pleased to hear you had relaxing treatments with us and I will be passing this on to our spa management. I am glad you were able to have interconnecting bedrooms so you and your party could all celebrate together and that you also found the cleanliness of the room to be to a high standard. I am so pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay with us to celebrate your friend's special occasion. We left after two days feeling thoroughly spoiled, every happy and already planning a repeat visit.ĭear Ariel I, Thank you for coming to stay with us recently at Alexander House Hotel and for taking the time to provide your feedback. The restaurant gives you an option of using the QR code for ordering or you can use the menu. There's an app you can use to order from the bar and a button marked "call waiter" if you need something off the menu or just help. With a maximum of I think ten or fifteen in there maximum is adds to the relaxing feel of the hotel. However you can do this on the day and I liked this idea as in pre-Covid times the spa gets very busy. You do need to pre-book spa times if you don't have a treatment scheduled. ![]() You can book a table for breakfast if you wish to dine in the restaurant, and I strongly advise pre-booking dinner. Our massive bed meant we had a great sleep and social distancing was managed perfectly. Our room was a Cedar Lodge Suite with a balcony and this was wonderful to make use of the fine weather. This is the ninth time we have stayed at the hotel and we still love it. Overall this is a beautiful building with wonderfully attentive staff, but take that away and it is just like any other upmarket chain hotel, albeit double the price. I had breakfast included in my rate but had I paid the £22 charge listed on the menu I wouldn’t have felt I had gotten value for money. Like everywhere else in the hotel the service was brilliant but my food was a tad bland and uninspiring. The selection was rather limited, especially the hot options. My other disappointment came at breakfast time. I had planned to spend the evening in the spa but left after an hour or so. The pool/jacuzzi area was pretty but lacked any sort of ambiance and it wasn’t a particularly relaxing atmosphere. I’m sure a male employee wouldn’t be allowed to walk around the female section. I also wasn’t comfortable with the female attendants continually walking around the male changing area. It was just like the locker room at my gym at home. I appreciated having separate steam/sauna in the changing rooms however these were incredibly small and didn’t feature any smell infusions or niche features. There was no fresh fruit or snacks offered which I find is normally standard in 5* spas. Firstly the charge just to access the wet facilities seems rather greedy considering the cost of the room for the night. I chose this hotel mainly due to the spa, which unfortunately was rather underwhelming. Their small touches and proactive, discreet service went a long way in helping me relax and indulge. I was warmly greeted by every staff member I came across and made to feel welcome and valued. The staff are by far what made my visit to Alexander House. My luxury room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated, with a gorgeous marble bathroom and all of the amenities you could ever want. There is no denying that the building and grounds of this hotel are beautiful and it is certainly an escape from everyday life.
